The successor to the Ferrari 360, the F430 was originally unveiled at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, with styling designed in collaboration with Pininfarina. Power comes from a 4.3-litre Ferrari-Maserati ‘F136’ V8, featuring new connecting rods, pistons and crankshaft, while the four-valve cylinder head, valves and intake trumpets were sourced directly from Formula 1 engines.

The F430 features the E-Diff, a computer-controlled limited-slip active differential, which can vary the distribution of torque based on inputs such as steering angle and lateral acceleration. Other notable features include switchable drive modes via the Manettino dial, and ‘Skyhook’ electronic suspension.

To commemorate its 16th victory in the Formula One Constructors’ World Championship in 2008, Ferrari unveiled the Scuderia Spider 16M at the season finale in Mugello. A convertible version of the lightweight 430 Scuderia, it has increased power due to a revised intake and exhaust, and an ion-sensing knock-detection system that allows for a higher compression ratio. In addition to the weight saving measures, the Scuderia's single-clutch automated manual transmission features improved ‘Superfast2’ software, resulting in a 60-millisecond improvement in shift times.

The chassis was stiffened, various carbon fibre components were fitted, and unique five-spoke forged alloy wheels were produced to reduce unsprung weight, with larger front brake discs and callipers added for improved stopping power.

Tuned to produce 503hp and 347lb-ft of torque, it accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 196mph. Just 499 cars were produced, all of which were pre-sold to select clients.
