The Maserati MC20 is a two-seat, rear-wheel-drive supercar unveiled in 2020. It is powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, dry-sump ‘Nettuno’ V6, which revs to 8,000rpm and delivers 621hp and 538lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine has a unique passive pre-chamber twin-spark ignition inspired by Formula 1, which is designed to help combustion in low-load scenarios.
The MC20 generates its downforce primarily through a network of underbody strakes and vanes that channel air to the rear diffuser. Underneath, it has a unique five-link suspension system with adjustable damping, that allows for longer-travelling springs than a double-wishbone set-up. The MC20 also has ‘Wet’, ‘GT’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Corsa’ drive modes, which alter the suspension and throttle response accordingly.
Meanwhile, the interior features a carbon fibre and Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, leather and Alcantara-trimmed Sabelt seats, a 10.25-inch TFT digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
In May 2022, Maserati unveiled the MC20 Cielo, an open-top variant of the MC20. It features the same Dallara-developed carbon fibre monocoque and 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 as the standard car, but incorporates a 65kg two-piece folding hard-top with electrochromic glass roof, which can open and close in only 12 seconds. The MC20 Cielo can launch from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 203mph.
