In anticipation of Ford Motor Company's 100th anniversary, a concept car was designed based on the marques most distinguished LeMans contender, the GT40. Ford appointed Camilo Pardo, then head of Fords ‘’Living Legends’’ studio as chief designer of the GT, overseen by J. Mays (Chief Creative Officer of Ford), working closely with none other than Carroll Shelby in development for the project. Unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, the Ford GT40 concept car was well received.
After just 6 weeks from the unveiling of the concept car, Ford announced the official production of the GT, exhibiting three pre-production examples to the public in 2003 as part of the marques centenary celebrations, with first deliveries being aimed for the final quarter of 2004. Constructed between 2004 and 2006, a total of 4,500 GTs were produced with just 101 destined for the European market. Of these EU supplied examples only 28 were delivered to the U.K.
Furlonger are delighted to offer yet another exceptionally well presented Ford GT to the market, showing just 4,010 miles on the odometer. Ordered new via Ford of Dagenham in June 2005, the car was optioned with the unmistakable exterior Mark IV Red paint with white painted over roof stripes. The GTs interior trim is upholstered in Ebony Black which further complements numerous black accents and features found throughout the car's bodywork.
Accompanying the Ford GT are its original leather book pack, owners guide booklet, service portfolio booklet, emergency key card, original Ford GT application form, copy of original ‘new vehicle invoice’ and 2 keys with fobs.
